How to Meet God through this Journey
This resource is comprised mostly of God's own words from Scripture. As you read and reflect on His words, God will speak directly to your heart. This resource must be "prayed through" not merely "read through." As you pray through this resource, you will literally be talking to God and He will talk to you.
After each Scripture, you will find questions to examine your life in light of that particular verse. It is essential that you not rush this process! As you read each Scripture, ask God to reveal what He wants to change. When He reveals a sin, immediately confess it and trust Christ for victory over that sin. Above all, do not be discouraged if you discover many areas of needed change. Our growth is a lifelong process, not a one time event. God will definitely give you the grace to experience victory and He accepts you through the whole journey, struggles and all.
You may want to keep a journal as you work through this resource. As God reveals areas of sin, note it in your journal and be specific. (If you are concerned about confidentially, use abbreviations that are clear only to you.) Be sure to identify specific ways to overcome the sinful patterns God reveals. Remember, it is not enough merely to confess a sin, it must also be forsaken (Proverbs 28:13). For each sin you identify, find a corresponding Scripture that promises victory and strength. It is indeed vital that you replace a sinful pattern with a specific godly pattern.
