Our desire is to foster lasting marital unions. God has established and sanctified marriage, having created marriage for one man and one woman for life. God has declared that “a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
Scripture declares that God hates divorce and desires that marriage be held in honor. (Gen. 2:24, Mal. 2:13-16, Mt. 19:6, Eph. 5:21-31)
We encourage couples to set aside time for marriage preparation instead of concentrating only on wedding plans. A wedding is but a day, marriage is for a lifetime. We believe that couples who seriously participate in premarital testing and counseling will have a better understanding of the marriage commitment as found in Scripture.
In order to establish and nurture healthy marriages we will endeavor to adequately prepare and support those who come to us seeking to be married. We will invest our best skills and resources so that the couple may discern their readiness and ability to enter and continue this sacred relationship.
Waiting Period
Each couple must wait a minimum of four months from the initial counseling appointment until the wedding date.
Premarital Preparation
Each couple must participate in a minimum of four premarital counseling sessions that include the following:
Completion of relational instrument or inventory (such as PREPARE, Taylor-Johnson Temperment Analysis, Meyers-Briggs, or similar) to help couple objectively evaluate and understand their readiness for marriage.
Church Attendance
Each couple is encouraged to regularly attend and participate in church during the process of preparation for marriage. Out of town couples, please have your pastor verify your attendance for us.
Continuing Counsel
Each couple must indicate a willingness to participate in at least two post marital sessions within the first year of marriage and attend a life group with other young couples during their engagement and following the wedding.
